Pre & Post-Care Instructions:

 

MICRONEEDLING 

Pre-Care: 

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen, Advil, or Motrin for at least 3 days before treatment. You may use Tyelnol if needed. 
  • Also avoid waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis to the area being treated for 5-7 days before treatment.
  • Avoid using retinol products 7-10 days prior to treatment 
  • Your provider will apply numbing cream when you arrive for your treatment. 

Post-Care: 

  • Your skin will be pink and slightly swollen for the first 24-48 hours.
  • Light scabs: Light scabs may form in the treated area and remain for 24 to 48 hours.
  • Bruising: You may have some areas of subtle bruising, you may use Arnica gel 
  • Skin dryness: Your skin will be very dry and feel tight for the first 1-3 days.
  • Avoid picking or scratching treated skin. 
  • Do not wash your face until the morning after your treatment
  • Wash your face gently with a mild cleanser once or twice daily, followed by a moisturizer or gentle serum (preferably the TNS by SkinMedica) and last but not least your SUNSCREEN!
  • Sun exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 10 days if possible.
  • Avoid Retinol Products for at least 14 days 

VI Peel

Pre-Care: 

  • Avoid Retinol products at least 14 days prior.
  • Avoid "waxing" 10 days before and 10 days after peel on the treatment site
  • Avoid sun exposure and being tan, both before, during the peeling process, and after the peel.
  • If you get cold sores regularly, have a skin infection, or have any other skin sensitivities in past medical history, let us know. 
  • If you have an allergy to aspirin or phenol, are pregnant or breastfeeding, you CANNOT get this procedure done.
  • Plan to  avoid vigorous exercise or intense sweating (i.e. saunas, steam rooms) for the next 2-3 days after treatment.   

Post-Care: Your provider will give you a post-peel care kit with written instructions. You may also download the VI Peel app!

 

Filler

Pre-Care:

  • Schedule your injection at a time when minor swelling or bruising will not disrupt your social obligations. Each time you are treated, outcomes may vary. 
  • Plan to avoid heavy exercise 24 hours after treatment. 
  • Plan to avoid massages and facials for 7 days after your treatment. 
  • To lessen the likelihood of bleeding or bruising, discontinue use of blood thinning products for 5-7 days prior to treatment, if approved by your primary care provider. This includes: aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil), naproxen, Aleve. You may take Tylenol.
  • It is best to avoid alcohol 24 hours before and after your treatment to reduce the risk of bruising 
  • Please notify your provider if you have any history of cold sores. 
  • Cancel your appointment if you have any open sores in the treatment area. 
  • For lip injections: your provider will apply numbing cream when you arrive for your treatment. 

Post-Care:

  • Swelling, bruising, tenderness, numbness, and areas of firm nodules may occur after your treatment and may last up to 7-10 days.
  • Ice packs may be used to the treated area during the first 24 hours to help with bruising. Ice for 5-10  minutes on and off, do not let the skin get red and painful. 
  • You may apply Arnica gel to bruised areas as needed.
  • Avoid heavy exercise for 24 hours after your treatment.
  • Avoid massages and facials for 7 days. 
  • Avoid dental work for 30 days after filler injections. 
  • If you experience any of the following symptoms, contact our office immediately: dusky or white discoloration of injected areas, mottling or unusual bruising, severe or increasing pain, redness, increasing warmth or coolness to touch, severe swelling, itching, blisters, difficulty swallowing or smiling, fever, or chills.

Botox/dysport

Pre-Care:

  • Plan to avoid exercise (including yoga) and/or saunas/steam rooms for 24 hours after your treatment. You may exercise and/or use the sauna/steam room before. 
  • Plan to avoid facials, massages, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion for 7 days after your Botox/Dysport
  • To lessen the likelihood of bleeding or bruising, discontinue use of blood thinning products for 5-7 days prior to treatment, if approved by your primary care provider. This includes: aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil), naproxen, Aleve. 
  • It is best to avoid alcohol 24 hours before and after your treatment to reduce the risk of bruising 

Post-Care: 

  • Avoid exercise (including yoga) for 24 hours after your treatment. Walking is fine.
  • Do not use saunas/steam rooms for 24 hours after your treatment. 
  • Do not manipulate/massage the treated area for 24 hours following treatment. 
  • Avoid facials, massages, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion for 7 days after your Botox/Dysport. Ask you provider if you are not sure about the recommended time frame to hold off on a particular service. 
  • You may gently wash your face the night after your treatment and resume your usual skincare products.
  • You may gently ice any bruised areas (5-10 minutes off and on).
  • It can take approximately 14 days for final results to be seen. If you would like more areas treated, or desire additional Botox/Dysport, please contact your provider. 

PRP/PRF INJECTIONS

Pre-Care:

  • Schedule your injection at a time when minor swelling or bruising will not disrupt your social obligations. Swelling and/or bruising may last up to 3-5 days each time you are treated, outcomes may vary. 
  • To lessen the likelihood of bleeding or bruising, discontinue use of blood thinning products for 5-7 days prior to treatment, if approved by your primary care provider. This includes: aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil), naproxen, Aleve. You may take Tylenol, you may also take antihistamines such as Benadryl, Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec etc. 
  • It is best to arrive well hydrated prior to your appointment. 
  • Do not smoke or consume alcohol 48 hours prior to your treatment. 
  • Your provider will apply numbing cream when you arrive for your treatment. 

Post-Care: 

  • Ice packs may be used to the treated area during the first 24 hours to help with bruising. Ice for 5-10  minutes on and off, do not let the skin get red and painful. 
  • You may apply Arnica gel to bruised areas as needed
